DIY Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day ideas for the different people in your life.

Made this for my boyfriend V-day 2012. Tried to make it "manly" and but still thoughtful.
You're ALE mine, Chocolate Cigars, and Chocolate golf balls haha. Bought those at Target!

Almost all guys have a huge sweet tooth.

Giant heart cookie!

The parents in my class made me a candy-gram card. This was for teacher appreciation day.

A Man Bouquet! Mini liquor bottles, chocolate, etc.
This was a lot of fun to make. I used those white pop sticks from Michael's (the kind used for making cake pops and molded chocolate pops). Then used a green floral foam to hold everything together. And to top it off, I used a beer mug as the vase. How much more manly can it get! :)

Made this for my students using ideas from Pinterest.
Free download for the glow stick heart from the The Teacher Wife.
I made the you are "a-maze-ing" card and put a heart maze on it. The maze and glow sticks were bought at the dollar store.

Adventures with DIY Costumes!

This is a compilation of some of the Halloween costumes I've made in the past few years. Enjoy!

Mario Kart
Aren't group costumes the best??

The Magic School Bus
A great group costume idea..especially for teachers! We made the bus with cardboard boxes and construction paper. The wheels are black paper plates.

I found a green shirt and red hat from Michaels. Then used puff paint to make the letter R and white stripes. I'm so OCD that I made a template for the R using Paint on the computer.

The Incredibles!
Another great group costume. This is with my 2nd Grade team. Halloween 2012.

Wonder Woman!
I made all the pieces for my Wonder Woman costume last year. Made a DIY no sew tutu and puff painted the red T-shirt. I also made the wrist cuffs and head piece with a gold glittery foam.

Wizard of Oz!

Made my Dorthy costume. Saw a tutorial on how to make a no sew Dorthy dress. I was also being super cheap by not buying red glitter shoes so I made that too using an old pair of shoes.

My birthday is on Halloween! Who is lucky enough to wear a tutu on their birthday?!

Ugly Sweater Christmas Party!

Merry Christmas! What better way to celebrate Christmas than following the oh so popular Ugly Sweater trend. I did not realize that EVERYONE was going to host an ugly sweater party. But regardless, it was a ton of fun and even more fun getting ready for.

Everything here was bought either from the dollar store, thrift store, or 70% sale at Michael's. So overwhelming!!

Gotta have a Hot Chocolate Bar and Candy Bar!

Photobooth to show off our fun outfits. My friend bought the photobooth props from Etsy. She also had a polariod camera!

I used wrapping paper for the left booth and tinsel for the right booth. I had to buy about twenty 9 ft strands of tinsel. A dollar each.

I bought my snowman sweater from Ross and made my boyfriend's vest from the thrift store. I hot glued dollar store items on the vest.

Alice in Wonderland Themed Party

As a child, Alice in Wonderland completely freaked me out...a world of crazy weirdness and a really creepy cat. But for some reason I decided to give it another chance and fell in love. I love Alice's world of imagination and the profound hidden messages within the story.

I share my birthday with Halloween and never in my 23 years of living have I had a costume party! So what better way to celebrate my 24th Birthday than hosting an Alice in Wonderland themed party! But how does one pull off a playful theme to make it more adult-like? That was the main struggle but hope I did it justice!

On Pinterest there were a lot of Alice in Wonderland themed parties for little girls. They had a lot of pastel colors so I adapted it by using deeper purples and blues. I made a lot of the decorations and bought some as well.

First of all, what I believe really gave the party that whimsical feel were the lights.

I have such awesome friends! We have almost all of the characters; Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Mad-hatter, the King and Queen of Hearts, the cards, the rabbit, and the smoking caterpillar!

I made a wall size Alice!

Drinking tea with tea cups and candy favors.

Gotta have beer pong!

From Etsy. I couldn't find the exact one on Etsy for some reason but there are many different types of cupcake toppers.

Made a photo wall. One of my favorite parts that is still on my wall.
Used some of the instant download props from Etsy by GlitterInkDesigns.
I used a lot of the quotes found in the story and framed them. The frames found from the dollar store and thrift store. The pictures are bordered with construction paper.

Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday to me :)
